With November being National Prematurity Awareness Month, it has caused me to do a lot of reflecting.
I went into premature labor three times with Addyson before I delivered at 36 weeks via emergency C-section. We were very lucky that she was healthy and didn’t need to spend time in the NICU.
NICU parents are not only stressing about their beautiful babies, but the constant traveling to the hospital everyday, trying to pump religiously around the clock to produce even an ounce of milk, and the crippling hospital bills they are faced with the longer their baby is in the NICU.
According to the CDC, 1 in 10 babies are born premature. That is nearly 400,000 babies a year. We can’t reach all 400,000 families, but I would like to use this platform to be able to help some.
PICKING DAISIES NICU HOLIDAY BASKETS
This holiday season, I am working to put together gift baskets for premature babies in the NICU and their families. And I am asking for YOUR help! Because no one expects to have their baby early, most parents aren’t prepared. I would like to spread some holiday cheer and bring some light into their lives during these stressful times.
My goal is to donate at least 50 baskets filled with preemie onesies, diapers, wipes, blankets, stuffed animals, books, toiletries for parents, hand sanitizer, pumping gear, and other essentials.
I am accepting cash and gift donations until Monday 12/16/2019. I will using all donations to put together the baskets. Everyone who donates will be acknowledge in each basket and in my thank you blog once the baskets have been distributed.
I will also be running various fundraisers on Instagram @Pickingdaisiesblog to raise money for the baskets.
