Do you drink mushroom coffee?!
If not, WHY NOT?!
It always baffles my mind when people are so loyal to their flavored ground coffee and k-cups but FREAK out over hearing my coffee has mushrooms in it.
Do you know what is in YOUR coffee?! I’m going to share some insight with you and I think you’re going to think my coffee is less, um, weird.
Artificially Flavored Coffee
Cookinglight.com uncovers the truth: Flavored coffee is made of cheap—and often old—coffee beans sprayed with synthetic flavoring and bathed in oils to get the flavor to “stick.” (Ever made flavored coffee at home and noticed the oily residue in your coffee maker afterward?) YIKES! The scary part is, is that it is really cheap and easy to make these in a lab so even flavored vanilla coffee is using a lab-made synthetic over the natural flavor.
You can find Deicing fluid include in the long list of toxic chemicals in your coffee. Do you know what deicing fluid is?! What they use to de-ice large aircrafts quickly. Do you really want to be drinking that 3-4 times a day? And I know you’re wondering how this is legal. But the USA has the loosest ingredient laws in the WORLD and it was actually FDA approved in small amounts. However, we are not just having it in small amounts. You can also find it in a variety of packaged foods like dressings, cake mixes, dried soup mixes and more (1). And are you someone who drinks more than one cup of coffee a day?! You are essentially causing a toxin overload from the one simple cup of coffee.
Not only is your coffee full of toxic chemicals, but it is more than likely expired. Even the bag you buy from Starbucks. Coffee hits its peak flavor between day 3 and day 14 after roasting but the ones you find on Amazon, at Target, TJ Maxx, Starbucks are more than likely months to YEARS old.
So just because your dessert coffee doesn’t have added sugar or is sugar-free (even worse. Use DuckDuckGo search engine to look up artificial sweetness), and no calories- it doesn’t mean it’s something you should indulge in! And while we’re at it, ditch the flavored creamers ESPECIALLY the powdered ones.
I’m sorry if I just crushed all of your flavored coffee dreams. But just because you should avoid flavored coffee doesn’t mean your coffee needs to be flavorless. If you are not a black coffee person like me, you can still create incredible coffee using REAL ingredients.
Get a quality whole milk and a frother. Froth the whole milk with pure vanilla extract and enjoy. You might find you enjoy your coffee more (and feel better) without all the toxic sh*t in it. If that’s not enough for you then find clean flavors and add ins that are not overloading your body with crap.
But for me the switch was easy when I found Four Sigmatic products.

Mushrooms:
Four Sigmatic uses functional mushrooms help with productivity, stress support, and immunity. They are meant to be used long term as a tonic for daily support of well-being.
Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane is researched for uses against Alzheimer’s disease, Anxiety, Depression, High cholesterol, Inflammation, Parkinson’s disease and Ulcers. Scientific findings from animal-based research, test-tube studies, and small clinical trials indicate that lion’s mane may offer certain health benefits, including support for neuronal health(2).Lion’s mane may benefit older adults with mild cognitive impairment, according to a small study published in Phytotherapy Research in 2009. For the study, researchers assigned 30 older adults with mild cognitive impairment to take either lion’s mane extract or a placebo every day for 16 weeks. In cognitive tests given at weeks eight, 12, and 16 of the study, members of the lion’s mane group showed significantly greater improvements compared to members of the placebo group(3).
That is just one of the many studies and research done on Lion’s Mane.
