Sara Gallagher always wanted to know who birth parents were because she felt like an outsider in her adopted home. When she is in her early 30’s, she finally found her birth mother, which led to pandora’s box being opened. She quickly finds out that her birth father is the infamous Campsite Killer and her birth mother wants nothing to do with her.
Word spreads fast, leading her birth father to contact her. With each phone call she is putting her 6-year-old daughter and fiancé in danger.
The cops have been hunting the killer for decades and want to use Sara as bait to finally catch him. Sara’s fiancé, Evan, does not like the idea or the cop, Billy, that’s hanging around Sara a little too much. Sara feels like she is the only way that he will be caught. Is she willing to put her life in the cop’s hands to capture the notorious Campsite Killer?
I LOVED this book! I found myself getting caught up in the story, not wanting to put it down.
First you find out how Sara felt like her adopted dad didn’t want her after her sisters were born and her relationship with one of her sisters was nonexistent. Then, we are introduced to her fiancé and daughter. Her fiancé was never home, and her daughter was a handful. When she finds out who her biological dad was we are introduced to a whole different side of Sara. She had a history of anger issues and wondered if she was anything like the Campsite Killer. Through quick and tense phone calls Sara discovers that she has more in common with her father than her hair color and starts to freak out.
She befriends the cop, Billy, that is assigned to her case and has become a big brother to her, which was a fishy relationship from the beginning for me.
Without giving any spoilers away, I figured out the twist not to long before it was exposed, but it still didn’t take anything away from my enjoyment of the story. I think Stevens did an excellent job and has such a creative mind.
I am definitely requesting more Chevy Stevens novels from the library.
