Silver Birches Resort: A Perfect Poconos Getaway in Hawley, PA

This past weekend, my family and I met up with my friend Leah and her kids for a stay at Silver Birches Resort in Lake Wallenpaupack, right in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. We stayed in the main resort, specifically in Room 15. It featured a full bathroom, workspace, two bedrooms, and a cozy couch. The space was ample for our family and provided all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Leah and her family stayed in Cabin 115, which was equally impressive with its bunk bed, full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, dining room, deck, and grill. Both accommodations were spacious, well-equipped, and perfect for family gatherings or group vacations.

Silver Birches Resort is more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination that offers a unique blend of relaxation, adventure, and history. The resort’s prime location on Lake Wallenpaupack provides stunning views and easy access to a variety of activities. We enjoyed paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing on the lake. The kids had a blast with the bonfire, making s’mores as the sun set.

Dining at The Dock on Wallenpaupack

One of the highlights of our stay was dining at The Dock, the resort’s on-site restaurant. We loved the fresh, locally-sourced dishes and the beautiful lakefront views. The casual atmosphere was perfect for the kids, and the excellent food and service made every meal special. The fish tacos and the Dock Burger were among our favorites.

Exploring Hawley and Beyond

During our stay, we also explored the local area. We took a scenic rail car ride through the Pocono Mountains, which was a huge hit with the kids. We saw an eagle, a hawk, and plenty of deer along the way. The historic rail car ride is something we’ll definitely do again on our next visit.

We also enjoyed a beautiful picnic arranged by Picturesque Picnics. Their attention to detail and the stunning lakeside setup made it a memorable experience for everyone. Later, we strolled through downtown Hawley, exploring its quaint shops, cafes, and galleries.

Bushkill Falls and Three Hammers Winery

Our trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to Bushkill Falls, known as the “Niagara of Pennsylvania.” The series of eight waterfalls and well-marked hiking trails provided a fun and scenic adventure. We wrapped up our trip with a visit to Three Hammers Winery, where the adults enjoyed a wine tasting while the kids explored the vineyard. The winery’s beautiful setting and family-friendly atmosphere made it a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
