Six years have passed since Jake watched the love of his life, Natalie, marry another man-Todd. Jack vows to stay away from Natalie and Todd for the rest of his life. Until one day when Jake sees an obituary for Todd and decides to attend the funeral. But when he gets a glimpse of Todd’s wife, it’s not Natalie.
He begins to search for Natalie but ends up putting his life at risk, while uncovering secrets and lies.
When I read the back of this book, I snatched it right up. It sounded like it was right up my alley. Unfortunately, about a few pages in I wasn’t into it. The first chapter opened with Jake at Natalie’s and Todd’s wedding, which caught your attention, but it started to go downhill after that.
I don’t know if it was the writing, which tended to drag on or the main character, but I found myself skimming the pages over things that weren’t relevant.
The story got a little too far fetched for me and things kept changing, which normally keeps my attention but lost me in this story.
I rarely don’t finish a book once I start it, but I had to fight to finish this one. Glad that I finished it and can move on to something else. Â
Don’t bother reading this one. Instead, grab a trusty Lisa Gardner book if you are looking for real action and mystery.
Happy Reading!
