Since I am a HUGE skin care junkie, it’s only fitting that my first holiday shopping guide is full of my favorite skin care products for under $100! These make perfect stocking stuffers and gifts for anyone on your list. I think it’s important for MEN and women to practice good skin care routines, so every holiday I snag some of the best products for my husband and brother. Honestly, they always thank me too! So when you’re scrolling through this list don’t just think about the women you are shopping for- men need great skin too! There is NO shame in a little manscaping.Â
Why You Should Only Shop CLEAN Skin Care
I am a FIRM BELIEVER in only using clean, non-toxic products on your body so you won’t find anything toxic or full of harsh chemicals on this list. We can forget the Bath & Body Works shower gels or glitter face masks. Although they may seem like cute gifts, they are causing WAYYY more damage than you know.
In 2005, the Environmental Working Group published a combination of two studies that found toxic chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of newborn babies born in the U.S. in the fall of 2004. They screened for more than 400 chemicals, and an astounding 287 toxins were detected within the umbilical cord blood of these newborns. Of these 287 chemicals, 217 were neurotoxins, and 208 are known to damage growth development or cause birth defects. These toxins included mercury, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polybrominated and polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and furans (PBCD/F and PBDD/F), perflorinated chemicals (PFCs), organochlorine pesticides like DDT and chlordane, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), polychlorinated napthalenes (PCNs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and many others. However if you go in your shower, make up drawer, or bathroom you will see those big words included in the ingredients of almost ALL of your products. If you’re still not convinced what we put on your skin gets absorbed, think about the nicotine or birth control patches. A simple patch worn on your skin to prevent pregnancy or help you quit smoking. That right there is PROOF. So I encourage everyone to think twice before shopping the cute products or grabbing the $6 scrubs from Target.
