Exclusive Interview With The Talented SpiritMadeCakes

I had the wonderful honor of having a SpiritMadeCakes Cake at my baby shower. When she walked in with it my jaw DROPPED.

Guys- this lady is the next Cake Boss. Her work is unmatchable and she’s even sweeter than her cakes! I got to sit down with Vartine, the owner of SpiritMadeCakes and learn all about her journey & passion for baking. I am so excited to share it with you guys today & hopefully someone out there finds inspiration in her story to take the plunge to start their own business.

Vartine owns a licensed home bakery where she specializes in unique cakes for any occasion. She is a self-taught licensed cake designer and mother of three boys. What Vartine enjoys most about baking cakes is mixing together different ingredients and colors. She also loves taking on new challenges and trying new techniques. She said, “Sometimes I feel like I am addicted to baking and decorating cakes.” But besides baking, Vartine loves singing, praising the Lord and serving in her church.

She has always been known as the “Baking Lady” since she was about 12 years old. Vartine baked a peach pie and her mother invited next-door neighbors to come over.  All of them were stunned by how delicious it was and that’s when she felt the passion inside of her from that day on to continue baking.

But when she made a cake for her Son’s baptism celebration, God put in her heart that it was time to start a business and let that passion grow.

I truly believe in learning from others. Anyone who has taken a chance on themselves and is doing what they love has valuable information we can all learn from. When I asked her what advice would she give other bakers starting their own at-home business she said, “Always imagine creating something unique. Baking a cake is an art. It requires imagination and creation.  Never give up and keep trying over and over because failure is the mother of success. And surely, be patient! In every dream, you feel the fear of success. My fear was not how I will become financially successful. But because my dream was big, I was hesitant to start my own business. The difficulties and obstacles trained me to be stronger in achieving my goal.”

I found this to be incredible advice because it’s embracing failure to make you stronger. It’s also embracing your creativity and not allowing fear to stop you from trying something crazy or unique. How many times have we talked about our goals and ambitions but let fear stopped us from taking the first step? If you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done. I am so glad Vartine took a chance on herself because she is truly the most talented baker I have ever seen.

Vartine does wish though that someone would have told her that “baking a cake is an all-day job.” Seeing for myself, the level of detail she puts into each cake I couldn’t imagine it’s a “quick and easy” process. However, anything that is worth something doesn’t come easy right?

  1. I am only commenting to make you understand what a remarkable encounter my wife’s child had going through yuor web blog. She learned a good number of issues, with the inclusion of how it is like to possess a wonderful coaching mood to let the others really easily completely grasp chosen grueling subject areas. You actually did more than people’s expectations. Many thanks for coming up with the great, healthy, informative not to mention cool thoughts on that topic to Evelyn.
